LCD Vs LED Vs OLED Vs Plasma Vs Quantum Dot TVs Explained!

All of you once in your life came across through various types of TV’s such as LCDs, LEDs, OLEDs, Plasma TV, and Quantum Dot TVs etc. You have some knowledge before buying TV`s about these types. Suppose your were wandering in market and you may came across these type of TVs, now you want to purchase any of these but you don’t have basic knowledge between these TVs such as what is difference between LCDs and LEDs, what is difference between LEDs and OLEDs, how Plasma or Quantum Dot TVs work. Now a days there are very less amount of LCD`s and Plasma TVs available in market. Now, the word LCD stands for Liquid Crystal Display. So it consists of a screen which is just opposite to our eyes is made up of Liquid Crystal. On the back of Liquid Crystal there is a CCFL lights which provides light and make the area visible to us.

The main difference between LCD and LED is that, in LED, CCFL Lights are absent. In place of CCFL, several light emitting diodes are present which makes the area visible to the user. LED TVs are very slim and also consumes less light. In this a new technology is introduced which is called as micro dimming. In this technology, some portion of LED is dimmed by reducing the intensity of light of LED.

Now, we introduce OLED TVs. In these TVs, there are neither CCFL lights nor there are LEDs. In difference to these, OLEDs has light in every particular pixel. In these TVs micro dimming technology is very sharp. The contrast level in this technology is 1up to infinity. The black portion is completely black while the white portion is completely white. There is no in between to these. There were curved TVs in the OLEDs.

Plasma TVs are now out-dated because they very bulky and very power consuming. But the black level is economic in comparison to the LCDs. They are best for playing games or they were best with Play stations because they have best refractive index ratio.

A quantum dot display is an experimental type of display technology. Quantum dots (QD) or semiconductor Nanocrystals could provide an alternative for commercial applications such as display technology.This display technology would be similar to organic light-emitting diode (OLED) displays, in that light would be supplied on demand, which would enable more efficient displays.Quantum dots could support large, flexible displays and would not degrade as readily as OLEDs, theoretically making them good candidates for flat-panel TV screens, digital camerasmobile phones and personal gaming equipment.
